Career Education Programs in schools provide students with opportunities to earn graduation credits through courses and programs designed to build practical skills that are valuable in the workforce. These courses include Work Experience, Youth Work in Trades, Youth Train in Trades and Dual Credit programs.

Work Experience is part of an educational program that provides students the opportunity to participate in, observe and learn about the performance of tasks and responsibilities related to an occupation or career.

Youth WORK in Trades is a career program that provides students the opportunity to begin an apprenticeship while still in high school and earn credits towards graduation.

Youth TRAIN in Trades are programs that provide secondary students the opportunities to simultaneously earn their secondary school diplomas and post-secondary or industry training certification.

Dual Credit allows students to complete post-secondary courses, while earning dual credits that count towards both their high school diploma and their post-secondary diploma, degree or apprenticeship certification.

Career Education programs offer students flexible pathways to graduation by providing courses that emphasize real-world workplace experience. Opportunities such as Youth WORK in Trades, Youth TRAIN in Trades, and Dual Credit not only support graduation requirements but also give students a head start on earning post-secondary credits and gaining skills typically pursued after high school.
